Buying Guide to Popular Oris Divers Sixty-Five

Popular Oris Divers Sixty-Five Models

In 2015, Oris debuted a new watch model inspired by a 1965 vintage dive watch from the brand’s archives. Aptly named the Oris Divers Sixty-Five, these mid-priced Swiss-made mechanical watches have been widely popular with seasoned watch enthusiasts and new watch buyers alike. Over recent years, Oris has greatly expanded the collection to include a slew of sizes and styles. Discover the best of the bunch with our guide to popular Oris Divers Sixty-Five models.

Oris Divers Sixty-Five 40mm

The first model to kick off the then-new Oris Divers Sixty-Five collection measured 40mm, which remains a popular size option within the lineup. As a diving watch, the Divers Sixty-Five 40mm comes with all the essentials of the genre including a water-resistance rating of 100 meters, a unidirectional rotating bezel, and plenty of luminous accents on the dial. In a nod to its vintage inspiration, the luminescence on the dial is beige to mimic the patina that can develop on old watches. Other retro-inspired details included a domed crystal and a domed glossy dial.

The Divers Sixty-Five 40mm models are offered with either full stainless steel cases, steel cases topped with bronze bezel rings, or bi-colored steel cases with full bronze bezel models nicknamed the “Bico” models. What’s more, there are two main dial styles to choose from; one is directly fashioned after the original 1965 model, characterized by large Arabic numerals at 3/6/9/12, while the other features a familiar mix of geometric lume-filled hour markers. There are also a handful of dial colors and strap options available, which along with the case styles, make the automatic Divers Sixty-Five 40mm collection a varied one with plenty of configurations to choose from.

Oris Divers Sixty-Five 42mm

One year after the very first Divers Sixty-Five made its debut, Oris unveiled bigger versions with 42mm cases—which have proven to be popular models for those who appreciate larger diving watches.

While similar to its predecessor in terms of functionality and overall style, the Oris Divers Sixty-Five 42mm lineup does have a few differences aside from its larger case. For instance, the dial of the Divers Sixty-Five 42 has a date window at 3 o’clock rather than the 6 o’clock position. Plus, to accommodate the larger dimensions, the hands are slightly longer too. Unlike the Divers Sixty-Five 40, the 42mm model does not have the option of the dial style with Arabic numerals at 3/6/9/12 nor the two-tone “Bico” configuration. However, material choices within the Divers Sixty-Five 42mm collection do include full stainless steel cases and steel cases with bronze bezel rings, along with some dial colors and bracelet possibilities too.

Oris Divers Sixty-Five 36mm

The most popular Oris Divers Sixty-Five model for vintage watch enthusiasts is the 36mm version, which was released in 2018. With the popularity of vintage-styled watches on the rise, there’s also been an uptick in smaller-sized watches, which would have been the norm during the mid-20th Century. So the Divers Sixty-Five 36 fits perfectly into that trend.

Like its 42mm counterpart, the 36m model includes a date window at 3 o’clock and is exclusively available with the classic diving watch dial design with lume-filled plots. Furthermore, case material alternatives include full steel or steel with a bronze bezel ring, in addition to different dial colors and bracelets

Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph

The newest model to join the Divers Sixty-Five range is the chronograph version, launched in 2019. The watch sports a 43mm stainless steel case, equipped with a pair of chronograph pushers flanking the winding crown and a bronze bezel ring. Like other Divers Sixty-Five models, the chronograph also has a black bezel insert marked to 60 minutes, a domed dial, and domed crystal.

The dial of the automatic Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph is home to two subdials and the bevy of golden accents on the black background offers solid vintage-inspiration. Offered on a leather strap or steel bracelet, the Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph is a hit with those who like the versatility of a chronograph with diving capabilities.
