Limited to 1,000 pieces, IWC’s 41.9‑mm ceramic Miramar chronograph features a sky‑blue Pantone ceramic case, matching dial and strap, and IWC’s 69380 calibre.
IWC’s limited Top Gun Miramar chronograph (reference IW389409) is crafted from a 41.9 mm light‑blue ceramic case that the brand developed with Pantone. The hue is inspired by the sky‑blue T‑shirts worn by instructors at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and extends across the case, dial and moulded rubber strap. Inside the case, a soft‑iron inner cage protects the automatic calibre 69380 chronograph movement, which offers a 46‑hour power reserve. The watch is limited to 1,000 examples and features a day‑date display, vertically arranged sub‑dials, 100‑m water resistance and a closed caseback engraved with the Top Gun logo. The meticulous colour‑matching of the ceramic, dial and strap adds to the cost compared with other ceramic Top Gun models.
IWC also released an unlimited steel version that pairs the same pastel‑blue dial and rubber strap with a brushed steel case. Although it shares the 41.9 mm case diameter, 15.5 mm thickness and column‑wheel chronograph layout of the ceramic model, the steel edition is powered by IWC’s calibre 69385 with a 46‑hour power reserve. The movement sits inside a soft‑iron inner case for protection against magnetism and the watch remains rated to 100 m of water resistance.
The key differences are availability and price. The steel model is not limited and is therefore easier to obtain, and it retails for around US$7,200 compared with US$13,500 for the ceramic model. The cooler tone of the steel case also gives the sky‑blue palette a slightly more utilitarian feel, making this version a practical entry point to IWC’s colourful Top Gun line.
IWC offers a non‑limited 41 mm steel chronograph in the same Miramar sky blue. The satin‑finished case, rhodium‑plated hands with Super‑LumiNova and vertical sub‑dial layout are paired with a day‑date display and a robust calibre 69385 with 46‑hour power reserve and 10 bar water resistance.
The non‑limited Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Top Gun Miramar pairs the sky‑blue dial and strap with a 41 mm stainless‑steel case. The rhodium‑plated hands with Super‑LumiNova and vertical arrangement of sub‑dials offer excellent legibility, while a day‑date display at 3 o’clock adds functionality. Inside the soft‑iron inner cage is IWC’s calibre 69385, an automatic chronograph movement with a column wheel and 46‑hour power reserve. With 10 bar water resistance and a quick‑change rubber strap using the EasX‑CHANGE system, this Miramar edition delivers everyday versatility with the same striking Pantone‑matched colorway.
